Step Your Shit Up: Animal Planet/Discovery Channel
This is me bitching.
Why aren’t there more animal documentaries for me to watch at 3am on a Wednesday? Yea theres usually some stuff on lions, crocs, and hippos but they tend to repeat excessively. Not only that but reality shows seem to taking over in programming. I dont want to see “COPS” with animal cruelty cases, a dog grooming competition, or any of those misbehaving pet shows. In an ideal world Animal Planet would be nothing but animal docs with bloody animal on animal carnage and cute babies. Nothing against the lions, crocodiles, hippos, and sharks. But with all the film circulating on those animals, I tend to prefer more unusual and less likely animals to focus on. Bring on the sloths, red pandas, yaks, dingos, etc.
And while I have that in mind, most people love Shark Week but it pisses off to see that much more attention given to sharks. Sometimes it seems as if I’m watching a continuation of the same stuff over and over. If only half as much attention was paid to some less prolific creatures. Shark Week might not be every week but the amount of shark docs out there doesn’t help. The exception to my ire is hammerheads, whale sharks, and the other unusual members of the shark family. Animal Planet, Discovery Planet, hell Nat’l Geographic, step your shit up! Entertain me.
Whats so special about sharks anyway?
